Shed 76 1/2 first visiting tutor

Today I had the pleasure of welcoming my first visiting tutor to Shed 76 1/2. I have loved the work of Liz Cooksey for a long time and really admired her work. SO when she agreed last year to come to Shed 76 1/2 to run a workshop I was incredibly excited. The workshop filled up really quickly and today 10 excited ladies arrived like it was Christmas morning.

Examples of Liz's work.

The theme for the day was Stories on the Round working with wire, paper, fabric and a range of Liz's techniques. Once we were all settled with a coffee and gathered around Liz began to talk us through the techniques we were to play and expeirment with in the morning.

After opening the little parcels Liz provided us with, the morning was spent creating

individual wired pieces using the shapes Liz provided. Liz shared the secrets of her techniques (and they will stay in the shed) and we slowly began to create some lovely colourful pieces.

It was a lovely busy atmosphere with all of us inspired to try out new techniques. It was lovely to see everyone's colour choices and how we each interpreted Liz's demonstration.

After lunch we were on to experimenting with compositions and trying out different ways of laying out our pieces on a round background.

Liz' challenged us all to try the 2 circle composition and always up for a challenge we all got started.

Before we knew where we were it was 3.30 and we all aimed to get as much assembled as we could to show and tell at 4.

It was lovely to see the range of work we had produced and how much we had got done.

I am sure you will agree the work is fantastic. Everyone had a fabulous day and Liz is a fantastic tutor who inspired us all to work really hard all day. I know everyone is going to continue working on their piece and I can not wait to see what they look like when totally finished.

Finally I would like to thank Liz for coming over to Shed 76 1/2 and I hope she will be back soon

Anne xx
