Shed 76 1/2 is delighted to welcome Tansey Hargan on the 13th and 14th July 2024.

10am till 4pm on both days.

I met Tansy at the Harrogate Knit and stitch show and took part in an online class with her - Little book of Thumb nails, and am excited to combine drawing and textiels in this workshop at Shed 76 1/2

'From Sketchbook to wall'

In this two-day art textiles workshop, we start on morning one with sketching from life using a viewfinder, either outdoors or from a still life arrangement, if it’s cold or wet.

This is followed with an hour or so of developing the sketches into paper collages.

After lunch we unpick old garments, and paint the resulting textile pieces with acrylic paint. These are then hung and left to dry overnight.

The following day, we start by adding marks (using typewriter, carbon paper, and monoprint) to the painted garment parts. Then use them to make textile collages, which we stitch and embellish after lunch.

Students need to bring their own sketchbook and sewing machine.

Plus any linen, cotton, or silk garment they would like to deconstruct and incorporate in their artwork. I bring garments too, so this is not essential, just something nice that some people relish the opportunity to do.

Anne will provide drinks throughout the day and you will need to bring your lunch.

PLEASE NOTE your machine must be in good working order and you have your powerlead and foot with you
