Easter Newsletter

Updated: May 21, 2023

Hello and Happy Easter to everyone, I am just finishing the term at work and looking forward to 2 weeks at home. I was thinking about my blog posts and realised they are going to end up being a written wobble gob lol...if you haven't heard of a wobble gob it is

'someone who talks a lot and generally does not engage their brain before talking'

if is a name my mum gave me when I was little and has stuck. ( I am sure at some point it will end up in the English dictionary.

So what a busy few weeks it has been in my HANNEMADE world... Mr B and myself have been planning a project for about 3 years and this month it began to come to life in the form of a van purchase (yet to be named)… so excited our adVANture is beginning and you can follow our progress by following our Instagram @brooke_advanture

Mothers day was a treat out as we went to the vintage emporium in Stockport Manchester. My favourite unit is @no27.vintage (Instagram) and their haberdashery. I was really good this visit and kept telling myself I have enough 'stuff' at home, but couldn't resist a few vintage threads on cards :)

I am loving that workshop season is beginning and mine started with a worrying trip to Perth, Scotland. The workshop wasn't the worry it was the weather. Snow nearly stopped everything but we made it up north and had a lovely few days in Perth.

We booked a gorgeous 'shed' on Airbnb that was a place I could have lived in. So quirky and eclectic. once the log burner was lit we were snuggled in for a few days expecting snow to also head north, but we have beautiful blue sky's and Mr B had a few days walking in the hills.

Saturday was spent with the ladies in Perth and creating a beautiful range of stitched collage boxes. This was the second workshop I created based on my original stitch collages. A fabric lined box constructed out of paper.

If you fancy having a go at creating a box you can purchase a digital workshop for this, stitched collage and free machine embroidery via my website. They can be purchased individually or as a bundle of all 3

As always I am often thinking of new things to do and on a PHD (project half done) day at the Shed a group of us got to talking about going away on a stithing weekend...so last month off we went to Northumberland for a 'test' at a HanneMADE retreate.

What a lovely and busy weekend we had... Alnwick Gardens, the coast, shopping, stitching, eating, Cragside and of course LOTS of chatting. Busy planning 2024 and the possibility of holding some extra weekends as well.

Here are just a few of the many photos we took...

Workshop - Airedale

Had a lovely day with the Airedale group and a scrappy roll workshop. Such a nice day stitching and everyone started a gorgeous roll that I can't wait to see finished...no pressure ladies ;)

Excited to let you know that this month I have a mini project in STITCH magazine. It was inspired be the tags and flags project and is a mini landscape.

You can purchase the magazine in hardcopy or digital copy from the links below.

WOOHOO, I heard last week that I will be exhibiting at Yarndale again this year. It is one of my favourite show held at the auction Mart in Skipton, North Yorkshire. A wonderful weekend of yarn, chat and shopping. If you can get it is well worth a visit, but they also hold an online version with links to all stall holders and lots of other things.

Tickets are on sale for visiting in person and online - click here

After completing Donna Watson's workshop 'essence of Identity ' with Fibre Arts takes two, I entered my first series of new work 'WHOLE : HOLE' and was accepted to Collect Art's online exhibition and special edition of the magazine. You can view the whole exhibition here

Future events

workshop availability for 2023 at the Shed

Jessica Kinnersley - Bloom and stitch a 1 day workshop Saturday 24th June 2023

Bloom Workshop:
Developed from one of Jessica's lockdown sketchbook prompts, her Bloom workshop is a mixed media approach to floral art. With plenty of materials on hand to inspire, she will guide you through laying a painted "ground", before adding decoupage florals and stitch to create your own blooming summer vase of flowers!

WOW what a busy bee I have been LOL... hope you are all well and enjoying a bit of time to stitching in the sunshine. Keep up to date with my 'wobble gob' posts on YouTube and check out my website for all things HanneMADE...

Happy stitching to everyone
