Join Anne N Rach for this UPCYCLED SUMMER SEWING session, a fantastic way to breathe new life into old textiles! It’s less of a rigid "how-to" class and more of a creative marathon with a supportive safety net.
To help you get organized for Anne and Rach’s Upcycled Summer Sewing session, here is a breakdown of the event details and some tips on how to prepare your "canvas."
Event Snapshot
● Duration: 2 Days (Wednesday, Aug 12th @ 9am – Thursday, Aug 13th @ Midnight).
● The Vibe: Low pressure, high inspiration. Not a "school," but a guided creative jam.
● The Starting Point: Everyone begins with a 12" x 12" upcycled fabric square.
Pre-Event Checklist
Since you'll be working straight through (with sleep breaks, thankfully!), it helps to have your kit ready so you don't lose your "flow" looking for a seam ripper.
1. The Base Square: Find a piece of upcycled fabric (piece of clothing to work on, a linen tablecloth, or even a vintage tea towel) and cut it to 12 x 12 inches or mark out an area if working on clothing.
2. The "Scrap" Stash: Gather smaller scraps, ribbons, buttons, or threads that might complement your base.
3. The Essentials: ○ Fabric scissors and embroidery snips. ○ A variety of needles. ○ A variety of embroidery threads. ○ A hoop (if you prefer tension while stitching).
It can be hard to start a new piece, so the plan is to have a check-in approach. Having two-hour intervals will create a perfect "creative heartbeat" for the day.
It gives you enough time to get into a deep state of flow, but provides a frequent enough reset to prevent that "stuck" feeling.
Here is how you can make the most of those Inspiration Intervals with Anne and Rach:
The "Every 2 Hours" Strategy Since you'll be hand-stitching, your progress might feel slower than machine work, but it will be much more intricate. Use the check-ins as benchmarks: (things may change as we stitch)
WEDNESDAY
● 10am - The Launch: Use this to see their starting points. It’s the perfect time to commit to your initial layout before you "lock it in" with stitches.
● 12pm - Texture Talk: By now, you’ve likely got your base layers down. Look for tips on layering and how they are handling their specific upcycled textures.
● 2pm - Mid-Day Pivot: If your hand is cramping or you're losing steam, this check-in is great for "troubleshooting."
● 4pm - The Detail Phase: A chat about beginning to work on top of your base fabrics
● 6pm - The Evening Plan: As the official "support hours" wind down, use this final check-in to get your roadmap for the solo evening session.
THURSDAY
● 10am - Morning and where are we up to. Let’s share our pieces, share on INSTAGRAM - use and follow the hashtag - #upcyclesummersewing2026
● 12pm - Stitch Talk: what are you favourite stitches to use
● 2pm - Mid-Day Pivot: If your hand is cramping or you're losing steam, this check-in is great for "troubleshooting.".

● 6pm - The Evening Plan: As we go into the last few hours, use this final check-in to get your roadmap to the finish time..
● 11pm - The final hour: Well done, we have made it. Let’s share the pieces that have connected us over the past 2 days
